Adsense Alternative - Clicksor Review
While adsense is truly king of contextual advertising their are other marketing programs that offer website owners the ability to add text link ads to their site for additional revenue sources. After reviewing the Clicksor program I felt it was another option for webmasters.
Clicksor Review:
Websites with decent traffic and well placed text ads (Adsense or Clicksor) will stand to make a decent amount of money both work in slightly different modes. Adsense targets each page that an ad is severed on while Clicksor relies on a list of keywords that the site admin furnishes to the program. Webmasters with narrow focused websites tend to do well with Clicksor, however site owners with varying degrees of content can have a tough time since the Clicksor programs servers contextual ads site wide based on the keywords selected by the site owner.
Obviously it is much better to have ads “targeted” to each page of your site rather than having ads targeted site wide. It is also important to mention that Clicksor has fewer advertisers that the Google Adsense program, fewer advertisers results in lower bid prices and ultimately lower earnings.
Clicksor also provides what they call “inline link ads” which work very similarly to Kontera’s “Context Link” ad system. Basically Clicksor can add text ad links to your sites content, you have the ability with the program to define which parts of your webpage you want these ads to be placed. When a site visitor however over these links they get a small hover ad which pays based on clicks.
All in all if you already have an Adsense account your most likely in the right program, however the program is excellent for using as “ad defaults with adsense” and for site admins that might not have access to Adsense.
