August Wrap Up - 6K Month With Adsense & Ebay - More Domaining
August 2007 was an excellent month for my internet marketing with earnings on the rise for both adsense and the ebay affiliate program. While my work level decreased my income went up
This is the power of internet marketing and what makes it so appealing to so many people. Once a site reaches a level of traffic sales and advertising revenue can continue to climb even if your on a vacation, however I was just taking a needed break.

I had launched several sites at the end of July that quickly established some nice income levels for both adsense and the ebay affiliate program. These sites continue to drive quality traffic that converts into sales for both my advertisers (via Google) and ebay (which drives my commissions).
During August I also tested out text-link-ads.com and am happy to report that I have sold some advertising on several sites I run. Nothing to break the bank, but I can easily ramp up the level of sites / pages in that network over the coming weeks and months. I expect to earn around $75 in September, not bad considering I put about two hours of work into it.
September is off to a bit of a slow start – I will blame it on the holiday weekend … but who knows? I have noticed a serious drop in the eCMP with Google adsense. The eCMP metric tells you how much your earning to 1,000 ad impressions. I have averaged around $30 in the past few months, however since the start of the month the daily eCMP has been as high as $30 and as low as $15 … Google what gives? Smart pricing? I might test out the Yahoo Publishers Network with my high income sites and see if that helps out?
Plans For September:
During the month of September I plan on launching some more affiliate content sites to promote ebay, once a winning formula is established it only makes sense to continue marketing in the same fashion. I also am planning on adding domain parking as another method to monetize sites.
I have many sites now, some with link popularity that should be able to make me a few hundred bucks a month. While I have launched many unique content sites around “products” I also have these sites that focus on services and have the link pop. So in steading of building more sites I plan on simply parking to see if they can generate some income. Of course they won’t earn as much as a real site – but it is less time consuming. As I test out the various domain parking companies I am going to be reviewing them on a new site:
Domianing has become the foundation of my success over the last four or five months and I will continue to learn all I can about parking, domain sales and other monetization techniques.
What is happening with your marketing online?
I would love to hear what is working / what is not … in your online adventures. Feel free to leave your comments below.
To your success …
Brian J

Wanted to shar that I had the same success level in August. I lost my job because of a work force reduction in July. A couple of interviews didn’t pan out for me, but in the meantime, I cranked up my affiliate sites with some marketing efforts - I made almost twice as much as I did when I worked for someone else. I’ve been doing affiliate marketing for over 2 years part time as a hobby - then it just clicked (no pun intended). Over 2 years I’ve collected almost 800 domains - was up to 1,000 at one time, but I’ve let a lot expire and went for more quality names and not so much as names with traffic. Quality names you can develop, traffic names are harder to develop - in my findings.
Keep up the great work - sounds like we do alot of the same things. Take care - Sean.

Brian
When you decide to create a site, how do you determine if a site is worth creating?
So..
1. How do you decide on a niche
2. How do you select it ( volume, money, intrest?)
thanks.. great videos by the way.. good to see honest people online

Also brian..
I saw on your site about domains you mentioned 2 forums
dnforum and namepros.com did you buy one of their memberships, which one? as im considering it but not sure if its worth it?

Dave,
Don’t spend money on a forum such as DNForum until you have picked up some expired names. Spend the money on the names first to get some income coming in. Then maybe after some time join a forum.

Hi Brian,
Congratulations on the 6K month!
I too have noticed a significant drop in Adsense since the start of the month but haven’t attributed it to smart pricing. Whenever I see a rise or fall at the start of the month, I assume it has something to do with alterations made to the revenue share.
At first I thought it was just natural advertiser turnover. New advertisers with new campaigns bidding different amounts but such changes take place constantly throughout the month which makes the start of a new month insignificant.
The last time I saw such large a change was January 1st of this year when my earnings increased dramatically after a very slow December. It does feel a lot like someone flicks a switch from time to time
Well done once again on the 6K milestone…one day I hope to celebrate such an event too
All the best,
Mark

Yeah adsense are up to something lol..
Hey brian.. would be great if you could do a video explaining your process of getting inbound links into your sites over time..
As there is a lot of information about getting inbound links initially through submitting to directories but this has to be an ongoing thing, and most people agree reciprocal linking is out.. and submitting to article directories is a waste of time, whats your thoughts maybe im wrong?

My question is…is every domain you have right now.. old domains that you have bought or are the sites you have going new domains?
Also… from scratch how long does it take you to have your site online? I.e register domain, install wordpress, add themes, plugins, adsense, create 5 posts or 20 posts.. 2 or 3 days
Do you work on 1 site at a time or build 5 at a time.. and if so how the heck can you manage that many sites.. thats a lot of sites to manage

James:
Yes, it is a lot to manage. I use lots and lots of tools to automate certain jobs. I try NOT to cut corners when it matters … like content for instance.
However if i can use tools to make it easier, and faster to get sites up … then i can concentrate on the content.
Many sites I have are new - those are “seeds” for the future. Many sites are old = expired and many sites are old because I have been doing this a long time.

Brian can you update us on your experiences with text-link-ads
from what i can tell based on other peoples reviews there is mixed feelings with ending up getting links on your site which dont pay hardly anything to yes they pay lots
To some saying google nukes sites that have their links running??
