Wordpress is a powerful content management system their is no question about that, and many people use wordpress “straight out of the box” and see great results. However their are about ten wordpress plugins that I use to boost my ranking in the search engines, add deep links throught my site and with this latest plugin even get links to my blog posts with each and every post automatically!
With this new plugin that is called Auto Social Poster you configure the plugin in your admin section by filling out your username and password for sites like furl, and de.lio.us Once that is doing you then configure how you want the plugin to post the links, you have three options from a simple “auto” setting that posts the same “tagged” links for each post you make. Or you can manually add a string of text to your posts to create special tags for that very post.
The best way to understand how this new plugin works is to watch the video on this page.

Those intrested in making money blogging understand the importance of finding profitable niche markets to base their blogs on. With that in mind yesterday I spent a couple of hours crafting a tutorial that outlines some of the methods I use when creating my niche blogs. The tutorial is a wordpress “page” so I thought I would also post this note to my blog to draw attention to the “page”. One thing I must stress is that when your deciding “what topic” to create any type of a website about weather it’s a blog, or a static website it is important to follow your heart.
I just read an article in Revenue Magazine by Rosalind Gardner about how she spent the time to research a market, set up a great website as well as a newsletter but could not follow through day to day with the site because she created the site based on “a high paying affiliate sector”. This is common to affiliate or blog marketing, often times people follow what they “think” will earn them money based on numbers. Read the rest of this entry »

Making Money Online:
- Traffic – You must be able to drive traffic the more the better
- CTR – You must strive to always improve your click through rate
- Conversion – You must work to improve your conversion (even programs like adsense are mentioning conversion now – study up on smart pricing and you will understand you must convert for yourself or your advertisers)
The three biggies, get any one of those elements wrong and a websites earning will simply tank. The first listed is the most important. Traffic, you can have a high click through rate (ctr) and an amazing conversion rate but with little traffic none of those other points really seam to matter. I often visit Joel Comms adsense forum site and see so many people asking about improving the CTR on a new site just launched days ago. While it makes sense to work out the site template and ad integration early my gut tells me that most of these people are spending far too much time “playing” and not spending enough time “working”. I define working as anything you do to drive traffic to a site such as add new content, get inbound links, ect ….
Creating content is probably one of the best ways you can drive traffic to a site, I post probably 3 to 8 blog posts to my various blogs a day. Steady growth of unique content, a sure fire way to get a steady steam of visitors from the search engines. Over the course of my marketing career I have also heard many experts stress just how important it is to have a “list” and it really makes so much sense. Having someone subscribe to a newsletter allows you to get your message across to that person at regular intervals. While I understood the importance of building list I always had a hard time “mailing” to my list until recently. Read the rest of this entry »

As a online publisher and blogger it is my job to think and understand marketing, ultimately site owners that understand just what their visitors are after have a much better chance of online success. I was lucky in the fact that I understood this early when I got started with online marketing.
While many webmasters focus on learning advanced web design or programming once I was able to create a nice looking website I then shifted my focus to “search marketing”. I spent hours (and still do) at wordtracker.com and started to learn about creating pages based on popular search terms. Several years later there are now many powerful seo services and keyword reporting tools/sites available to the web marketer. Recently MSN has jumped on board and has just introduced “adCenter Labs” which allows access to some real neat data online.
One tool called “Context Based Acronym Resolution” allows users to find suggestions based on acronyms or abbreviations. Another tool called “Search Funnel” shows user search data based on repeated searches at MSN, spacifically the second and third searches used by MSN visitors as they “drill down” to located “exactly what they are looking for.
I queried: Halloween which brought up the following terms
- halloweencostume
- pumpkincarv
- halloweenpicture
- halloweengame
Another tool I will use often is called “Seasonality Forecast” which gives “predicted past traffic levels” and actual traffic levels.

In the coming days I will attempt to increase site revenue on a niche blog I launched about a year ago. The site cover a hair loss disease and ranks well for some popular searches on MSN, the site is also coming up strong in Google Image Search as well. This post will provide me with split testing statistics for the site, split test marketing is simply taking a site with existing traffic and tweaking it in various ways to earn more money.
My plan is to first switch over the wordpress blog template and incorporate what I call “google image text ads – this site uses that technique”. I think I can increase the google adsense CTR which should boost income, I am also planning on introducing hair loss ebooks at the site via Clickbank for additional revenue. Step two of the plan includes researching additional keyword phrases to introduce as blog catagories and then to post new content to those catagories in order to drive additional traffic. Finally I will also been adding a great new way to drive adsense clicks with a little help from Aweber, more on that later
(Hair Loss) – Site Statistics From May 1 – May 31
- Google AdSense Stats (What I Can Post Anyway)
- $108.16 Total Income From Google Adsense
- Daily Earnings Of $3.49 Over 31 Days
- CTR For The Month Was Fairly Good
- Traffic Stats From Server Logs
- 2159 Unique Visitors (April Was 1500 Unique Visitors)
- Top Referrals Google Images 772, MSN 590, Google 196, Yahoo 147, AOL 9
I am not sure how well the traffic from Google Images is converting to clicks, MSN however is sending me some great traffic as I am ranking for one very popular search term regarding hair ….
Once I get things underway I will report back my findings as always, expect an update in two to three weeks.

In one of yesterday’s post I mentioned my action plan for revamping a hair loss that is currently producing income via google adsense. While I have focused on adsense and other contextual ad programs quite a bit their are also some excellent affiliate program that will also enable to to earn. Clickbank affiliates know first hand just how lucrative affiliate programs can be. Clickbank offers a host of Merchant programs that sell only downloadable items such as:
- Software
- Ebooks
- Membership Sites
- Learning Course
Because the products are downloadable the commissions are often quite high, sometimes as much as 75%. Affiliates should be warned that their are some bad programs in the bunch at Clickbank (just as their is bad programs at both LinkJunction and CJ.com). With the bad however comes good as well, I have promoted several programs at Clickbank and have earned over $1000 in a good month. Rarely a month goes by now that I don’t earn “some” money. With that I have taken it upon myself to test out some neat Clickbank software tools and scripts. One such tool allows the creation of “Adsense” like ads in many formats (the ads can either be set to contextual or non contextual). I am testing it out right now on this site and will also test it out on my hair loss site as well.
I will report back my findings, bottom line is that once you have done the work to get good traffic to a site you need to track and test to find the most profitable products and services to promote. These new Clickbank tools will allow me to easily add new products from the Clickbank marketplace.

Friends, yesterday I posted (post located here) about the new service located over at http://www.adimpact.com/, I received a blog update from Shawn Collins (Affiliate Merchant Provider & Guru) about the new floating ads that the company had integrated with google adsense. The email mentioned that the ads were inline with Adsense policy and I had no reason to doubt Shawn Collins.
I was excited at the opportunity and while many might feel these types of ads are “intrusive” they are attention getting and I was sure they would push click through rates up. Many marketers have used these types of “floating” pops to drive newsletter subscribers (I guess they felt they were not too intrusive for that) in the past.
Regardless as mentioned in my blog posting yesterday I had fired off an email to the Google Adsense team to make sure these ads were within guidelines. They responded with the following:
Publishers are not permitted to alter the behaviour of Google ads. This includes implementing the AdSense ad code in a floating windows. We therefore ask that you do not use www.adimpact.com to place your Google
ads in floating windows. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding.
I apologize if I sent anyone in the wrong direction yesterday, if you have implemented these types of pops on your site be aware they are NOT within the guidelines.
Sorry for the mis information.
Brian
