Everyone knows their is plenty of money to be made online, with contextual ad programs like Google Adsense as well as profitable affiliate programs like the ebay their are many online marketers who are cashing in.
In the last several years creating dynamic seo friendly websites has become much, easier with popular template based cms systems like Wordpress.
However driving traffic to one’s site continues to be problematic for many webmasters today as Google tightens it ropes on affiliate and MFA sites. Since traffic has been an issue for my sites I have taken a close look at what has worked (and what has not worked) and began testing traffic driving methods in the spring of 2007.
So what is this secret sauce?
Old established domains and websites – buy them on the cheap (some at several hundreds of dollars if that is cheap) and monetize the inbound links, pagerank and content.
This is NOT about fooling Google, spamming the index and creating throw away sites. Rather it is buying a domain that has expired, creating new content on the domain and building up the site slowly over time.
When I started this system in April my Adsense earnings were at an all time low – under $30 a day on average for the whole month of April. My earnings at commission junction were less than $100 a month.
Right now I am on track for a $4500 month in July – I am averaging over $90 with adsense and my ebay earnings are nice and steady with $25 lead commissions coming in all the time.
Their are two products I recommend very highly – if you get into buying expired domains and old established websites you will get your money out of these two products. One is an ebook on “domaining”.
This book focuses much on the “buying and selling” of domain names. Now I focus more on the buying and then create sites for the long haul. However I was able to purchase one top level domain that I should have no problem fetching a great sale price in time (think a new car price). That domain has also already earned me probably $100. A sound investment that is already paying for itself.
The other “product” that I recommend is a tool that helps to sort through the tens of thousands of expired domains that are sold daily. It reports indexed back links, pr, whois info, age of a domain and much more. It is a fantastic product that is powerful and can help savvy affiliates to find top level domains.

Great post, and quite timely too.
It appears as if Google’s latest algo update has placed even more emphasis on domain aging. This tilts the playing field even further in favor of older sites, IMO.

Are you planning to do a video about using DRT? I would like to buy the tool, but I like someone shows how to use it effectively. Your videos are very good and I wonder if you could explain the process by using the tool. Starting from a keyword, to running the tool for finding one related expired domain and the bid process.
