Finding Niche Blog Topics - Make Money Blogging

Those intrested in making money blogging understand the importance of finding profitable niche markets to base their blogs on. With that in mind yesterday I spent a couple of hours crafting a tutorial that outlines some of the methods I use when creating my niche blogs.  The tutorial is a wordpress “page” so I thought I would also post this note to my blog to draw attention to the “page”. One thing I must stress is that when your deciding “what topic” to create any type of a website about weather it’s a blog, or a static website it is important to follow your heart.

I just read an article in Revenue Magazine by Rosalind Gardner about how she spent the time to research a market, set up a great website as well as a newsletter but could not follow through day to day with the site because she created the site based on “a high paying affiliate sector”.  This is common to affiliate or blog marketing, often times people follow what they “think” will earn them money based on numbers. While these numbers do make some people very wealth it is more important to make sure you can work on a site over the long term. Such a commercial site will be much tougher to get to rank, and without steady promotion the chances of it succeeding are slim. Do use the method I describe and use the excel spread sheet to evaluate profitability however make sure your entering site topics you can really work on over the long haul. It takes a lot of time and energy to get a site ranking well. If your passionate about your topic you will find it easier to create a site that matters online, ultimately this is what google and other search engines often rank well. Sites that matter.

You can find the article and downloadable excel spread sheet here.

Hey Bryan nice job on the blog layout.. ive opted to go with that theme too. I wanted to ask 2 things

      1. I see you have put your H1 Tag of the name of the blog smaller and in the top right hand corner in place of the time and date.. do you have the code to be able to do that, and where does it go?

      2. The other thing im trying to do is the 4 images and adsense underneath like you have, if you dont mind and you have a sec.. what would the code be for that and in which template would it go..

      thank again mate

      Jon

I am not sure what your speaking of is an H1 tag, their important yes but the blog already has plenty of good h1, h2 and h3 tag placement so I don’t worry too much.

In order to replace the time and date stamp just find that code in the header.php page highlight it and write over it (I used dreamweaver) with what ever you want (targeted anchor text - site name - ect) and then link it to your blogs homepage.

Brian.. do you mind me asking how you got adsense to show up within your posts on your yellow cycling site?

Do you use text control plugin? as by default usually if you insert adsense into your blog post it doesnt show up correct

thanks again for your tips in advance.
