Geting Out! The Google Sandbox And New Sites
With launching new blog sites, and understand that If this affiliate marketer wants to make any real money from adsense and affiliate programs I will need to have lots of traffic. So I have outlined a plan of attack for myself, it was really quite simple.
Launch A Series Of Sites Based Around Time Sensitive Topics (Holidays, Sporting Events, Ect)
Create Content That Is Deemed Worthy
Focus On Content & Grow The Site Over Time
Focus On Inbound Links Once Core Content Is In Place
I figured I would need a handful of niche sites (true niches no mortgage rates, credit card offer or pharmacy stuff this time) that ranked very well in all the search engines. No problems with msn or yahoo, traffic comes in reasonable time with those two search engines but the one that really matters today is google.
With googles new trustrank in place and the dreaded sandbox most marketers agree that new sites will take a minimum of six months to come out of the sandbox. Also the web today is more competitive with more savvy marketers taking a bite out of traffic across common sectors. With this information I thought It made sense to create a series of sites that revolve around time specific events.
My thought was I could focus on the event for about a month prior to the event “prime” date and continue with the site during the event itself. I would also work on getting inbound links to my new sites once these new sites had enough good content in place. My thinking was that it might be a bit easier to get some inbound links once these events were underway … I can tell you today that this has held true.
Once the event is about all but done and the traffic has died down I then go into “hibernation mode” and post a bit of content monthly … real easy stuff. Say maybe two or three posts monthly …
The beauty of this idea is that the site will have a chance to age, this is what google wants anyway. I have read in numerous places that google now values inbound links based on:
Subject Of The Page
Pagerank Of the Page
Time Link Has Been Active
The Google algorithm place weight on inbound links that have been on websites over time, and this “link aging” works nicely with my new time sensitive sites. As I work on my new sites today I am really thinking about the sites “one year anniversary” and am hoping google will smile upon them next year
I am happy to say that several of my newly launched sites are showing promise, one site did incredibly well (sporting event) and got tons of inbound links (one even from the dmoz) while another is starting to kick @ss around a spooky holiday (I love sharing too much sometimes!).
