Learning Resource Out For Wordpress - Drupal

How do you build webpages today? Do you use frontpage or dreamweaver? Do you use content management systems often times called “CMS” today the web offers a host of great resources and platforms for building and maintaining websites. Back in the late 90’s when I got started with web marketing I kept things very simple and focused on “understand the importance of keywords” and the platform of choice back then was Frontpage a tool I still use to this day. However I also use dreamweaver, wordpress blogs, web scripts to automate tasks and more.

I started to use these tools about a year ago with the inclusion of wordpress to my marketing tools and software packages. As many of you know wordpress is a free open source blogging platform based on php coding and MySql database. It is very search engine friendly and is based on pure css code (no tables) and when done right can produce code that is very search engine friendly. Not only that but their are lots of reasons why blogs often rank well in the search engines such as an updating homepage and category pages, pinging, a community where linking is encouraged and more.

However when you first start out with wordpress it can be tricky to learn all of the aspect of creating wordpress themes (templates), understand just what the software can do and more. Often times I hire developers to create custom themes for my projects and that helps. But I still need to get under the hood from time to time.

Just now their are some great books being released based just on wordpress as well as other content management systems such as Drupal and phpBB. One book in particular looks great and is about “building communities” with these tools. You might want to check it out it is called:

Other books on these subject are not quite out yet but are on the way, I also saw a book coming out about wordpress 2.0, and another on building wordpress themes and templates. Something that webmasters are quite intrested in. Hopefully these books will feature a tutorial to make wordpress theme and additional information on creating a wordpress template.
