Wordpress Plugin - Fighting Comment Spam With Akismet

Last year I started to develop websites using wordpress as many of you are aware. Wordpress is a free open source blogging platform that is quite flexible, simple and at the same time powerful in what it can do. One problem blogger face is comment spam, I am personally just at the point of drowning now with one blog receiving over 100 comment spams a day. The good news for those bloggers that do use Wordpress is that the new version 2.0 contains a plugin called Akismet that is designed to fight comment spam. It has been very effective in fighting comment spam for many blogs, the wordpress plugin ties in all wordpress 2.0 blogs that run the plugin into a central server and shares information about spam.

In the coming days I will be turning on this plugin in my wordpress 2.0 blogs and will also convert several of my blogs from 1.5 to 2.0 … I will report back my findings and let you know how well the plugin works.
